Photographers who inspire..... I love this series so much. It brings so much joy to be able to feature these amazing artists. I am inspired by each one of them and have learned so much from them.
Today, I am highlighting Bri Viglianco. She is yet another one of my amazing creative photography friends that I have met via IG. Her work really speaks to me, I literally gasp everytime she posts an new image. Very authentic and very emotive; she captures wonderful storytelling imagery of her beautiful son in the most amazing light, and with the most beautiful tones!!
What got you started in photography?
My son is what got me started. My husband and I struggle with infertility and when it settled in that our son is probably the only child we will get I decided I needed to do a better job at documenting his childhood. Not just for him.. but for myself as well.
What three words describe your photographic style?
This is tough for me. I think "earthy moody lifestyle".
What’s your favorite compositional technique?
I almost always go for rule of thirds and for the movement to flow left to right.
Tell me a bit about your biz! Are you only personal work, or a mix of personal and client?
Right now I do client and commercial work. I'd really love to transition into only doing commercial work!
How would you describe your ultimate dream shoot or personal project?
My dream shoot would definitely be in an epic location. If I shot for a company that flew me to a bucket list spot (like the hobbit houses in New Zealand ;) ) I would be so excited!
What’s one of the most interesting experiences you’ve ever had in a session or personal project?
I haven't been in business long enough to have any crazy stories. I got a huge adrenaline rush while photographing a birth because the babe had the cord wrapped around her neck. That was probably one of the most memorable moments for me.
What’s your favourite image you’ve ever taken (please share, and tell me the story behind the image)?
Definitely the image of my father and my son sitting on the dock. My dad has FIVE daughters. Five. And zero sons. So his relationship with my son is very important to me. This image shows their bond and it warms my heart every time I look at it.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to get started in photography?
Do not compare yourself to someone else. This is something I still do to this day, unfortunately. There is so much to learn about this art. Don't compare yourself to someone who has had years to learn.
If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?
I honestly have no idea. Definitely something in a creative field. I did hair from the time I graduated high school until a few years before I had my son. I love to be able to create.
Thank you so much for sharing with us Bri! Your work is absolutely breathtaking and I know you are gonna go far!!
